Update on Fr. Jay’s Retirement Gift
Thank you to all those who have sent a donation towards the purchase of a new church organ for Fr. Jay’s upcoming retirement! We are so grateful for your generosity!
As of February 4, we have raised 40% of the amount needed to purchase the organ. The total cost of the new organ is $179,000—which includes the organ, new speakers throughout the sanctuary, installation and tuning.
Why a new organ? Our current instrument was installed in 1982, and while it has served St. Paul’s well, it desperately needs repaired and parts for this organ are no longer available. The pipes were removed many years ago and refurbished for another parish. We also decided that this was a perfect gift for Fr. Jay, considering his love of music.
With guidance from our Music Director, Michael Roemer and our current organists, we worked closely with Pellegrino Music Center in Canton to select a new organ that will be a perfect fit for our church and allow us to bring beautiful music to our Masses, weddings and other special occasions. The organ that has been chosen is an Allen Organ, model RL66a, with many features that will enhance the music ministry at St. Paul Church.
Our goal is to have the organ installed and ready to play when Fr. Jay retires later this year. (We are also planning a picnic and reception following Masses so that everyone can wish Fr. Jay well as he retires. Look for more information on these events in the coming months.)
If you have not yet made your gift, please take a moment to do so today. You can drop your donation in the collection basket at Mass, drop off or mail it to the Parish office (241 S. Main St, North Canton 44720) or visit our website (www.stpaulncanton.org) and click on the “EGiving” button. All parishioners and friends will have their names listed on a card that will be presented to Fr. Jay. A plaque will also be displayed in the church in honor of Fr. Jay’s retirement gift.
If you have any questions, please contact Renee Kessler, Development Director, at 330.499.2201 ext. 107 or email at email@example.com. Thank you so much for your consideration of this gift!
